It almost sounds as if the DBC used during development NEVER POINTED
to any application 'space' .
what were results of 'open database ...'
or
use databasename!tablename ?
would also suggest you check any paths you've set up programmatically for your application.
do you have a clean machine to test your installs on in your lab ?
after getting burned with a project back in v6 - I decided to keep another machine around just for testing installs.

sometimes if you use a dbc on your 'other drive' and then make an application for usage on the 'C' drive - the dbc gets confused . You can write some routines that will change any file locations in the dbc.

worst case ? you sent out a corrupted dbc - but there would be other error messages.

middlin case ? the users don't have proper user rights to run your app on their desktop.

middlin case ? the dbc is set to read only from the installing application.
