>>Yea, I'm sure they do. Too bad though that it has to get bad before it can be recognized. I remember Greenspan and countless other warning that those tax cuts would be very bad news unless drastic spending cuts were done too. I guess, just like with the dotcom boom, people HOPE that THIS TIME IT CAN BE DIFFERENT. It's almost like hoping that, some day, gravity will stop operating.

>I don't know what it is like in other countries, but my view of this country is that we tend to not worry about something, or try to fix, unless something dramatic happens. The economy and 9/11 are two big examples.

The Administration states the economy is better than ever! Look at the improvement in the Stock Market! Big corporations are paying less tax then ever before by using creative tax shelters. Taxc payers have lower taxes. The lowest intrest rates imaginable in our nations history! (Why are some credit cards charging 26%?).

There is a housing boom in the entire country and this has created a major source of employment. Much of this housing boom is in the form of remodeling and people taking out loans against his/her dwelling to pay for upgrades.

The problem is that there not many new jobs that have been created within the last three years. In fact the "experts" state that we have lost from 2 to 3 million jobs in this country during this same three year period.

From Thomas Jefferson, my favorite President: "That government is best which governs least"!

In reality I believe what separates the two major political parties is “personality of the individual presently in office”, and has nothing or little to do with the political platform of either party. The ability to persuade the opposite party as well as your own is imperative if you are to impose your views upon the nation.

I have in mind LBJ, who was one of the finest politicians in our nations history. He knew how to get what he wanted and on his terms. By the way, LBJ is my least favorite President.
