I just tried Word 2003 with XP Pro (uptodate) and it works fine. I'm a mouse user and very rarely use ctrl-option since I stopped using Word Star 20 odd years ago :)

>Last Thursday I upgraded my XP-home system to XP-Pro using the MSDN DVD from Feb/04. I followed that by installing those Windows components that were not available in XP-home and then I uploaded and installed 16 critical fixes/patches from the Windows Update site.

>Apparently since the upgrade the CTRL key is having no effect, so instead of getting, say bolding/unbolding of the word "word" I end up with "bwordb". When I Backspace and do it again it "takes" as desired. I have watched carefully and I can attest that I am hitting the CTRL key squarely, firmly and correctly in every case.
