Oh wow, that brings back memories. My dad gave one of my sisters the nickname of "Shaz" (based on Shazam) when we were kids. I have no clue what prompted him to nickname her that. Her real name is Sheri, but to this day I still call her Shaz more often than not.

You're welcome! You know, it's funny, but on another forum a year or two ago, someone else said that exact same phrase without realizing that I am female ... he was obviously not familiar with American/English names. It was pretty funny when I pointed out his error ... he apologized profusely!!! =)
