John,
I have the database and table opened as shared.
I am the only user accessing the table currently.
Issuing a close tables command allows me to to reopen the table and perform another insert. I have tried following the insert with a "USE in mytable command" to be certain it has been closed. A subsequent call to USE the table results in the "FILE IN USE" error. I used the code references tool to be sure there are no other routines in my project accessing the table and there are not. I have no views, cursors or other aliases based on the table. I am performing a single insert, and a single SELECT into an ARRAY and then issuing the USE IN mytable command. This process results in the File in USE error even though USED("mytable") returns false.
This is a puzzle.
