To know what is going on, use the SET command to interactively check for open tables.

>Issuing a close tables command allows me to to reopen the table and perform another insert. I have tried following the insert with a "USE in mytable command" to be certain it has been closed. A subsequent call to USE the table results in the "FILE IN USE" error. I used the code references tool to be sure there are no other routines in my project accessing the table and there are not. I have no views, cursors or other aliases based on the table. I am performing a single insert, and a single SELECT into an ARRAY and then issuing the USE IN mytable command. This process results in the File in USE error even though USED("mytable") returns false.

Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
