The 2 Gb limit suggest that:
1. they are using a DBF version, in which case they should have a single table (with its associated CDX/FTP files) about to exceed 2Gb.
or
2. they are using some MSDE-based version, which is limited to a total 2Gb database (all tables included).
I don't know VAM, but in the first case, I should look for some way to clear some historical information (can't imagine VAM doesn't have an option for this).
In the second case, they could try the same, or upgrade to SQL Server, which, beside the license fees, shouldn't imply any other change. The upgrade should be 99% trasnparent IMHO.
