Why not OOP then? Something like:

Local oRant
oRant = CreateObject("SaveSetRant")
SET RANT ON
...
Release oRant  && or just let it go out of focus

And in the SaveSetRant object you create a custom property to keep the previous setting in Init(), and reset it back in Destroy().
