I took both tips on offer - turning the task pane off and new video drivers. Today is the first day that VFP8/XP hasn't crashed once (what a relief). Now tomorrow, well that might be a different story <s>.

>Let's try turning it off and see if it helps for you. It is set to start automatically with a new install, and I have see an instance or 2 where it causes instability under some very specific circumstances.
