1) From an article on VB6 by Keith Pleas in the "Gest Opinion" in the same page:

"VB6 also sports some interesting advancements in object-oriented
programming (OOP). The VB team was able to add inheritance by
taking it directly from Visual FoxPro, where it was already working
pretty well."

Pretty soon those programmers will be getting inheritance religion...

2) MS did VB programmers a favor with inheritance but at the same time changed the rules on them as it seems to do with each new version. Look at this:

"Starting with VB 6.0, Microsoft is finally dropping support for Jet,
DAO, and RDO: the only supported data access engine going
forward will be ADO. Although this will require a code rewrite for
most applications, Microsoft will ease the transition by providing a
new code-migration wizard based on the Office "Clippit" character."

>>Well, I did'nt exactly bail. I laid down a challenge to Karl Peterson - or anybody else that would like to engage me in a point/counter-point style article. Here is the text of that challenge:

>>So far, I have not heard from Karl - but another guy jumped in to do this. Now I have to pitch the idea to a few folks to see if I can get this published.

>>Also, when VBIT's hits NY, I may throw an offer out to Fawcette to see if they would let me do a Midnight Madness session on who OO really is and to keep things as close to home as possible - how VFP implements it. It would be real interesting to see if they took me up on that.
