As to the issue of putting C:\TRANSACT.DBF into your code. Imagine your company has rules about putting sensitive data on your local drive. You move it to the server (drive letter F:) and everything is fine. Wrong. You now have to change the code. You do that and everything is fine. Wrong. When you get a new PC, you forget to establish drive letter F: and the program crashes. Which may lead to lots of debugging.

Use a config.fpw file or the Search Path setting under Tools...Options in the VFP menu. You can change that instead and not worry about the many many places your code must change.
