Claudio,

We must understand what is implied in "Mr." Lula's decision (and action): if it begins this way what will come next? Remember: totalitarian regimes begin exactly this very same way...

>If I publ. here if you Fernando really enjoy Whisky..

I do enjoy drinking whisky and I do drink whisky, period. The difference is that I don't owe any explanations to the nation for doing that. I'm not the president. Lula IS the president and owes explanation for his behavior, period. That's the way a real democracy is. Besides that I don't drink too much, he does.

>In a past Recent, on Time magazine Lula was recoginized as one of the Top10 influential today's man on earth..

Does anyone believe in that? (remember Lech Valessa and all the "appeal" that surrounded himat the time?)

>IMO, this is a kind of situation that really has the purpose to destroy that reputation..

Do you ignore that it's a common sense in Brazil that Lula drinks too much?

Meanwhile "Mr." Jose Dirceu "runs" the country, Lula makes the "social" part of the government (there included dinners, barbecues, cocktails etc all of this with a glass in the hand). Do you ignore that Lula has an ego bigger than his belly and loves to cult his own image? He is making his own reputation not the NYT reporter! He forgot (perhaps never realized) that now he is not a union guy any more, rather the president of a great nation made of poor people (an lots of problems) that put all their hope when they casted their vote in last election.

BTW, to better understand what I mean, please check http://www.claudiohumberto.com.br/ (in its may 13, 2004 edition) where it reads:

"Que Constituição?"

"O jornalista Ricardo Noblat revelou ontem em seu blog, na internet, detalhes da reunião que decidiu punir o jornalista do New York Times. Informado de que, pela Constituição, o americano não poderia ser expulso porque é casado com brasileira, Lula afirmou: “F(*)-se a Constituição!”. A assessoria de Lula negou, mas Noblat apurou o fato junto a participantes da reunião."

Um abraço,

Fernando

PS. I almost forgot: he loves to put all kinds of "caps" in is "enlightened" head too... (or not?)

>Now let's think (I am journalist).. If I go to the powerfull New york Times and write 'Mr. George W. Bush is gay..' I'll not only talk about a man, I will talk about 'the institution president of a country'
