thanks for your reply. We have 2 very large vertical market systems and each one has a large number of very envolved queries that gather any number of fields while gathering totals. According to the VFP 8 doc I would have to incude all of the field names that are not in a funcion in the group by. Some times this could be 10 or 15 fields with only 2 or 3 that I'm getting totals on. Would I do better to break it up into seperate queries? The plan is to convert entirely but it is just too big a project right now.
