I'm a little uneasy going forward with this discussion - I've read your posts for years and I have high respect you as a member of the community.
Having said that, if you wanted to apply the terms with consistency, you'd have similar reactions to other forms of 'advertisement' that occur regularly.
I give you examples: (I could probably spend an hour identifying more, but these are the ones that immediately come to mind)
- The new Les Pinter book announcement just a few weeks ago on VFP and .NET
- Announcements on Mere Mortals
- Links to third party vendors like Dbi, other frameworks, etc.
- Advertisements on FoxTalk 2
These reactions are situational more than anything else.
