You could reduce the problem (I think), though not eliminate it. If you set up a data grouping where the group only ever contained one detail record (if no other possibility you could use recno("table")). That would give you a group header and footer for each detail record. Forget the detail band and split the fields between the two group bands. That way you should get only half the lost space per page. I havn't had chance to test this so I can't guarantee it will work.

The part of the report that prints on and individual page is exactly what I want. My problem seems to be that when there is not enough space left on the page to contain a full detail band for the next record assuming that all the lines will be full, FoxPro ejects to the next page for that detail item. Regardless of the amount of data that is really in that detail record. I would like the decision to be based on what is really going to print.
