Hi, John

[order changed by me]
>In any case, Les, if you are listening....nice job!!

Well, Les not listening but I -as the book's Technical Editor- do, so thanks, John. We really worked hard on the book, and we're again at it doing the Spanish edition (which is not a simple translation anymore, but an expanded and revised language migration <s>).

>I flipped thought it - and it looks pretty good. If you are a VFP developer who wants to get key'd in quickly to .NET - it makes for a nice start. In particular - Les did a nice job with Crystal. Overall, he hit the highlights - from a VFP perspective. I am sure the book will do well - but I doubt any non-VFP'ers will give it a serious look. On the other hand, people who know that they have aging Fox apps may buy it on impulse.

We hope the book will be good for plain vanilla VFP developers interested in an overview of how things are made in .NET. It is not a sophisticated book, and it doesn't even require a great deal of VFP knowledge. Maybe you noticed that half of the book contains VFP code. It is full of explanations about how things are done in one platform and then the other.

>My other question is why isn't there any angst over the book by the faithful here? Why is it only reserved for some?

Well, I still hope that people understand that EPS are not the bad guys. They -as many of us- are just working on a wider market. In my own experience, I'm consulting with some pretty big companies that are still doing lots of VFP development, and I'm also getting many asking for migrations to .NET. But of course, the vast majority is just asking for new .NET solutions (when they care about the platform).

Congratulations for your new title!
