I don't know but "Anders [Hejlsberg] was the architect for Visual J++ and the Windows Foundation Classes.".
"Subsequently [to Visual J++], Hejlsberg was chief designer of C# and a key participant in the creation of the .NET framework"

I believe the problems with J++/J# come from the Java lawsuit between Sun and Microsoft.
