>>>Last gov't estimate is there are about 15 million illegals in the main 48.
>>>That being said, there some industries that depend on illegals for labor.

>>>So what do you do?

>>One of the arguments I keep hearing is that 'we need the illegal aliens to do the jobs no one else here wants to do....like mowing lawns, washing dishes in resturants, etc.'. As matter of fact I'm hearing that more and more all the time - to the point where it's starting to annoy me. ya know I remember those jobs - we have Americans to do them too - they're called teenagers!

>Gee, that's odd -- a labor shortage in a 'free' market? But that can be fixed with a bit of qualification: no one want to do those jobs AT THAT PAY. Now it makes sense. ;-) Yes it would probably 'hurt business' (some of 'em anyway) to pay more for labor. But only initially I would argue.

I'm not so sure about 'no one will do those jobs AT THAT PAY.'... Keep in mind teenagers don't have bills like an adult. If the companies are breaking the law by not paying at least minimum wages then they should be held accountable - and odds are if they're doing that it's because they're hiring illegal allens to do the work to begin with...and again they should be held responsible. Personaly I'd rather pay an extra 25 cents for my hamburger than save the few pennies and as a result do all this damage to the economy.
Well heck..if you can't offshore it..just hire an illegal to do it...right? I mean anything to save a damn dollar. I wonder how some of these CEO creeps sleep at night.
