If you're more comfortable with curly brackets, semi-colons on the end of lines, and case sensitiviy, go with C#. If not, go with VB .NET.

The proper rubric is which langauge - in the long run, will you be most productive in - but not at the expense of cutting off future flexibility. For example, if you know you will need to run un-managed code, the C# may be the clear choice.
