I am not sure I understand correctly; either the two computers are connected - that is, they are in a network - or they are not.

If you want to have a connection between the two computers only, apart from the remaining network, you have two options:

1) Use a hub (or switch) which only connects those two computers. In other words, you have a network only for those two computers. Each computer must also have a NIC (network card), and a networking cable. The common technology for network cards is called Ethernet; the common cable is UTP category 5 (or 5e), with a direct connection.

2) If it is only two computers, you can also omit the hub, and connect the two computers directly, with a network cable. However, you can't use the same cable which you use to connect the computer to a hub; it is still UTP category 5, but some of the threads are switched on one end.

HTH,

Hilmar.
