it is possible, using a laplink cable [usually parallel] and
use some MS networking thing. Can't remember the exact name any more, but it was prevalent in windows 95 and 98 - and i think it is still put on on the ToolKits for Win2K and XP.

i trashed the box i used to use for this about a year ago - so my memory is a bit dim.

BUT ? it was a MS network transport layer, and could mount drives in the fashion you described.
