He survived every recount that was done but they stopped the recounts. Some recounts were later performed in some counties. It would be interesting to see a recount of ALL votes cast in Florida not just selected counties. Of course it would be interesting to see a manual recount of all votes cast in all states for that matter. I believe the margin of error is greater than reported but then it has been that way through time so in essence it was as fair as all past elections and in that sense he was duly elected...
