>I don't think its the federal government as much as it is the NEA's union. They propagate lazy attitudes amongst the teachers. It is no longer the schools responsibility to teach, its the parent's to make sure the kids learn. Best thing we could do is outlaw the NEA and force the tachers to teach.

I am married to a Teacher and after moving to the U.S. had to wait several months for the INS (now dept. of homeland security) to issue a work permit – during that wait I was not allowed to work so volunteered in the classroom. This ‘coal-face’ experience was extremely enlightening. I am just wondering what position you speak from.
