Yes there is this custom in England too; in pretty much most of Europe
actually, Australia, New Zealand, North America, and Japan.

In England it is called "Daylight Saving Time", ie. the "DST" that you
see as an option when you install Novell Netware or Windows NT server.

Thanks for the clarifications. Unlike Mike I knew about CST, EST, and all the
others, but did not know about the CDT, EDT, etc....

most of the states of setting the clocks back or forward 1 hour twice a year. In spring we set clocks
ahead to make a later daylight in the evening, that's what the 'D' in EDT is all about...

We might add that Eastern Standard Time is 5 hours behind GMT, so EDT would be 4 hours
behind GMT. Am I right in thinking that the English also set their clocks ahead in Spring? If so,
we're 5 hours behind you always, except maybe around the time when the clocks are moved, since
you might pick a different weekend.
