During the dotcom bomb I was desperately looking for work and ended up in a gig that was mostly support, so I mostly just read here.

But for the last 8 months I've been working at a place that has several accounting systems they distribute. Lots of maintenance as well as customizations.

They're working on Java versions but the VFP versions will probably be around for 2-3 more years.

So I've got myself a 2 year window to get comfortable with Java, if I want to stay here, or .Net.

>OK, read my post again. VFP is a great jumping off point for a range of technologies. That was the point I was making.

>>I would think it would be an ugly argument if you had tried to explain to your wife that you think all these companies don't know what they are doing if they refuse to see what a great development tool VFP is. As you enter your 6th month of unemployment.

>Errr....maybe. The market is so diverse. However, anyone who pig-headedly sticks with a single tool is going to be in trouble in the long haul regardless of that that tool is.
