The reason given for returning to standard time for autumn and winter is the saftey of school children waiting for buses in the dark. Kids sometimes wander in the streets at the bus stops, don't always look before crossing, and often wear clothes difficult too see in the dark from a car. And there's always the problem of kids just getting snatched; we've had that locally in one area of the city for about 2.5 years and still haven't caught the snatcher. Fortunately, all the kids (at least reported cases) have gotten away, but the snatchers activity increases as it get darker around school bus time. Otherwise, I'd prefer to stay at daylight time year 'round.
