Initially I didn't realize that your reaction is cynical. Instead, I thought you were confirming my idea! You know, English is not my native language.
The VFP developers have proven to be very effective in setting up sites. However, all sites mainly serve their own (technical) needs. There are some places where prospects (managers from companies who think about using vfp for some new it-development) can get information about vfp, but all of those places are intermingled with 'our' techical info about vfp.
I can't imagine that you really oppose the idea of one site that really and only focusses on 'our' customers. VFP is your daily bread too, isn't it?
MS does not really market the product, but as far as I know, they also don't market its going down. There is really nothing to loose when we create a customer site. Why apathically wait until MS begins to market VFP??
