This bug has been with us for a while now. I am surprised no one has mentioned it before.

It is present in VFP7, 8 and even 9B and is easy to reproduce.

Here goes:
File New Program

Enter text into the PRG editor, say about 100 lines so that the scroll bar is enabled and you have to scroll in the editor window to see the hidden code. When the scroll bar becomes enabled, there is the button that appears in the middle of the scroll bar which can dragged up or down to scroll the window. It works perfectly as it should.

NOW File New Form. Double click to open the code window of the form, copy the code from the PRG and paste into the form method code window. It does not matter whick method it is for this case. Any method will do. Since the code is greater thn can be displayed in the window the scroll bar appears.

Scroll down to th emiddle of the code. Now click on the button that appeared in the middle of the scroll bar. Just click - No dragging. The Code moves. Click in the Bommand window and back again on the scroll button. The code moves.

Now try this in the Program Editor. The code DOES NOT MOVE.

This jumping of the code is absolutely irritation especially when switching between many methods onscreen where the code jumps and you lose your place.

The same irritating buggy behaviour can be seen in the code editor for visual classes.

This is certainly NOT the way any scroll bar should work.

I hope MS fixex this BUG at least in VFP9.

As an aside, there is another vert frustrating bug that MS has introduced with one of its "security patches" for WindowsXP. This patch is for Internet Explorer and affects ONLY IE. After this patch is applied, IE's scroll bar behaves strangely and different from ANY other windows application--

the further from the scroll bar button you click in the scroll bar, the further the screen scrolls. So now you no longer can use the scroll bar to page up or page down as the amount that actually pages is usually > 1 page so after you page you have to scrollup/down a few lines, depending on how far from the scroll button you clicked.

The only way to get the correct scroll action that ALL other windows apps display (with the exception of the VFP code window as mentioned above), is to click close to the button of the scroll bar!!!

MS - Please take this irritation away from me.
