MS response - HP Deskjet-VFP5 Memory Leak
When using a HP600 series print driver with VFP5 - I was able to duplicate a memory leak.
If you build a table - 1 field and add several records, then build a report using a HP Deskjet 600, then turn on Windows resource meter.
Next preview your report, close it, preview over and over. You'll eventually lose enough resources to crash your system. I'm not talking hundreds of times. I can usually bring my Pentium 200 w/64mb ram down in 15-20 previews.
I've duplicated this on 3 machines including a Dell Dimension XPS 200, a generic DTK 486-66 and a Texas Instruments TravelMate.
Several others have posted messages to my original message on this issue.
1. I'm using a 670c printer.
2. Same problem found in the 680 printer.
3. Same problem found in the 8?? printer.
Microsoft workaround is to use the HP 560 series printer as the default. (Great - lets tell users to buy a New HP Printer and set it up incapable of its features.)
I am awaiting HP tech support for a response. I have several postings with issues of the same where HP will not do anything.
Just thought you'd like to know.
Is this problem also found in other printer brands?
Very easy to duplicate...
