Sorry Doug, may mistake. The VFP table designer comes up. But why do I have to manually change the NStepValue and NNextValue values in the coremeta table to get the SDT update method to change the field to an Auto Integer?

When you click on Modify in the Database Explorer, it brings up the VFP Table Designer, then does a validate on the table after you close the Table Designer so it can update the meta data with any changes you've made.
