Unfortunately, I can not teach him read in English, because I have problems reading correctly in English myself. I often catch myself that I start doubting if I read correctly even common word. If I see a new complicated word, I still have troubles. I forgot all the rules how to read correctly and besides there are lots of exceptions anyway.

Quick? No way. And there are no rules, really. I've seen how our youngest daughter was learning to read English - it's word by word, not rule by rule. But then, since the rules are not strict anyway, you only have to learn how to look nice while speaking wrongly :).
