Hi Mike:

Now remember that I am working with a filtered data file.

I think your suggestion would work fine in an unfiltered file but when I try it with a filtered file it doesn't work.

Anyway, I have this thing working by the creation of the list index values (count1, count2, count3, count4) for each of the 4 orders of the filtered file and it works fine.

But my beef is that we should be able to use locate for recno() = m.r1 like we would with a Grid and get the cursor on the required record. It would seem infinitely easier to operate a list box if we had this feature.

Do you remember when MS couldn't get the selected row to change colour in a Grid in VFP 6.0 so Marcia Atkins developed a Class to do it. So MS capitulated and gave it to us in VFP 8.0. I see the list box in much the same way.

Possibly it has been fixed in VFP 9.0 beta, so I am going to open a new thread to check otherwise I am going to submit this to the wish list.
