My company is currently using a BBS system for managing file distribution internally and to current customers (via security login). For file management, the system has numbered areas that refer to all the different internal and customer-specific files for upload/download. To me, the system seems quite antiquated by its look, the fact that it's not very intuitive, and that it only accepts 8-character file names (really).

I was wondering if anyone knew of an existing web-based app that would be able to accommodate the needs described above. The thing is that they want our group to stop using our old FTP space for our own customers (which is working wonderfully) and use their BBS instead. I'd like to be able to come back to them with a suggestion of something more up-to-date, as opposed to writing something from scratch. ;)
