I don't know about current versions, but I've been using VFP and PVCS v6 for a few years within VFP without a problem. The key is that you have to install the PVCS SCC interface which will allow the source code control to work seamlessly inside of VFP for checking in/out project files from within the VFP project manager. Once the interface is installed, you set the active SCC provider inside the VFP options (projects tab).
