Yes, from what I understood, people wanted to have per forum auto expand ability. The problem was mostly visual where they didn't want the branches of a specific forum to be opened. But, the data is there. So, as soon as one is opened, it was opened entirely. But, that can also be another checkbox in the list to go one step at a time instead of a full expansion.
