>My application is for family history research and there are a lot of web sites on the net with 'text' that can be copied and pasted. I have seen the corruption caused to a memo file when a user selects and pastes a piece of 'text' by looking at the memo using a hex editor. I was hoping there may have been a 'simple' way to clean the text stream before it is saved to the memo in my application.

You may try to mark your memo as memo/binary, i.e. add a NOCPTRANS option. Then no codepage translation will be attempted.

How exactly are they pasting the text into the memo? Do you have an editbox and a browser control on the same form, or do they have a browse window with a memo window open, or what? I've had the first type working with no problems. I've even added the ability to drag and drop text from the webpage into the editbox, also no problems there.
