I wouldn't have thought so - I would try a test version with a couple of data folders and see if the concept works. If it does, this would be much better than copying data from folders under the CM data folder.

Closing a DBC shouldn't be a big deal. However, you should remember that CM opens this kind of metadata in a different datasession so make sure that this isn't tripping you up.
