Sorry, mate, I don't understand. As part of my app the user can export tables to Excel or CSV. I keep a header file of their names, whereabouts, and file type. One form browses the header file and, when the user selects a file, opens Excel or Notepad with the chosen sheet/CSV file. In doing this, my program changes the Excel col. headers to the long names of the fields in the orig. table, rather than the VFP short field names. Equally you could automate the changing the contents of various cells with your memo text.

The user is now in Excel or Notepad and can do spreadsheet stuff with the file.
The point is all this is automated. He doesn't touch any VBA code, it's all VFP in your app. Is it that your're chary of him being in Excel? I'm pretty sure you could open the workbook read-only. Maybe I've missed the point of this thread? :-). I'd be happy to share any code with you.

>Maybe I am just a control freak, but I prefer to not have the end user muck around with my coding. His knowledge of Excel is marginal, of VFP, non-existant. Yes, I know that there are measures that can be taken to prevent anyone from accessing the VBA. I just prefer to stay with VFP for the solution in this case.
