>This thread is one of the most interesting, I have so far observed on UT. Very timely in my case because I have been getting into MaxFrame over the past 2 weeks. Probably, I have not chosen the "best", but it seems to suit my circumstances. The point I wish to make is that, one way or another, together with, and in partnership with OOP, the stage is presently being set for huge gains in productivity and quality. Also I believe we ain't seen nothing yet!
>Another point I would like to make is on benefit multipliers- On a different definition of Frameworks, we are all involved in one of the best development frameworks available, the Universal Thread. The basic functionality of the information delivery Site and the willingness of highly talented people to help is in fact a FRAMEWORK. I dont see this extra leverage available within the FRamework Vendors discussion groups. Could I suggest a specific category of postings be created for "Frameworks".

I myself created a Framework but for company use only. It works fine, and developers have so far impressed on how it was designed. They are suggesting to market it even locally, but the management is still undecided as of this time because there ought to be a lot of processes to make it as the company's 'Trademark' which is counter productive on our part. Despite the positive feedback, we still inculcate to the mind of the developers/programmers not to confined themselves into it but rather stick to the BASICS of VFP. In fact, we instructed them, that if ever they decided to know its programming intricacies they should have allocate time on their own but not during office hours. With that matter, the company’s policy now on our new recruits is not to introduce them directly to our Development Framework but to begin with the BASIC/STANDARDS of VFP for them to be more effective and productive in a long term basis.

I know that my insights hurts some of our peers on UT forum specifically Framework vendors, but that’s part of life. For ‘What is life without challenge?"

A unique product will impact the market because of its uniqueness. And that is exactly what happened to Visual Accountmate (VFP), SOLOMON IV (VB) and a lot more. How can you have a product having its own uniqueness if you’re using the same framework being used by the other? The possibility then is high, that you might have a product with the same look and feel with that of your competitors with less differences (‘TITLE’ maybe), not unless you just get ideas from the so called ‘quality framework’ and design your own.

As I have said on my previous UT posting, we tried 3 frameworks, (CM, FE, MF - just a code in fairness to the vendors), they are good, but ohhh my…, a serious programmer, not a ‘Layout Artist’, could do even much better. The bottom line then is that, IMHO, ‘quality frameworks’ is very helpful if you want a faster and short term $$$$$$ thing (Savings for the client because it can be sold Cheaper; and Earnings for the developer because it be sold Faster). My conviction then is, using a Framework is not bad thing, it helps really, but depending on the individual’s ‘Motivation’. I would be more inclined and in favor to invest on the following: FoxWeb, FoxFix, xCase etc. which are classified or considered as application tools not application frameworks.
