>However, how many died in Rowanda, Bosnia and how many are still dieing in Sudan while UN is "thinking" about" it? Have I missed any other conflict that UN just stood by and analyzed? I'm sure I have. I would venture to guess far more then 100,000 in each case.

Dean:

Yes, you are absolutely right here.

Those are wars that were worth fighting even though they may be effective.

You will recall that Bill Clinton invaded Sudan to get rid of their leader Hadeed and ended up with a dead American soldier getting dragged through the streets. I like the idea of individual countries taking on a "big brother" role. Like Italy is close to Sudan, France is close to Algeria, Belgium is close to the Congo (Zaire), the Dutch - South Africa, US - Liberia. The UN is dysfunctional. But if a "big brother" country made a point of keeping tabs on stuff then reported things to the UN before they blew up then this might help.

On the other side, there is something wrong with Africa. The leaders in Rawanda have no regard for human life. Our soldiers are still in therapy from what they found there. OK, so we go in and get rid of the bad guys before they do bad things. I think so many of them have their heads on backwards that the next leader may be just as bad.

I do not know very much about their culture and how they go about things. If someone who has lived there could contribute his/her thoughts about how to get the violence out of the African governments it would be great to hear from you.
