Hi Jon,

While I feel that an index on DELETED() **did** help performance in FPD, it is quite clear that it is no longer the case in VFP, most especially if only a small percentage of the records are deleted (or none, as is often the case).

If you want a simple way to test this, find a table with lots of records but few/none deleted. Then run your SELECT and time it.
Now delete the TAG for DELETED() on that table and REBOOT.
Once back up, run the same test and time it.
