>One of our infrastructure on a client site includes a .NET Web Service which uses VFP and WWC for the data tier. Today, a top IT in regards to the management of that infrastructure says that this solution is not scalable. They said to us that a global .NET solution is scalable. How do we react to that?
Do you guys provide servers or do you consult for the client. I would be interested in who the "top IT" has consulted before and what his results were.
I have seen "top IT" system houses get contracts with companies in Houston (million+US contracts:). Deleivery was promised in 7 months at one place, 4 years later, the project is still not completed. The "top IT" shop has rotated a 3rd new team in [the hope] to [start it over and] get it rolling [again].
If you can, ask the "top IT" guy who he has serviced and try to get a phone number.
.NET is not that common yet - not many roll outs - it seems a lot of people are sticking with ASP and IIS. So it seems strange that someone would come out of the blue - especially when the install is working and doesn't need fixing - and reccomend an upgrade. Seems weird - change for changes sake or - "I gotta look like I am earning that retainer!":)
