Must be a marketing strategy! In cc it sounds so much more impressive than ci (cubic inch)!
We used to state the size of a cars motor in cubic inches and now liters is a common term. For example 181 cubic inches is about 3.0 liters. 3000 cc sure sounds bigger than 181 cubic inches!
Most people in my neck of the woods do not know what a liter is or how to convert to cc or ci. I know! A liter is what a cat has when it has kittens! Or is that the mess a cat makes in the sand box? :)
