Seeing that I've been CC'd on this, here's my twopenn'orth:

I can't accept that evolution is just a theory. It was when Darwin et al worked on it but the evidence is too overwhelming to refute. Take the classic example of the Peppered Moth (Biston Betularia?) which developed 2 versions after the industrial revolution: the original grey in the countryside and a blacker version in towns. It hangs around on tree trunks. Those in towns were blackened with soot. So trhe new town version was less likely to be picked off by birds.

In our local park the daisies have very short stems, to avoid the mowers.

You can see evlotion going on if you just open your eyes.

>The problem with the 'Theory of Evolution' as it is taught in American Secular Schools is that it is not viewed as a theory, it is presented as a fact. If you get into a discussion with a high school biology teacher and begin to present problems with the theory, the answer that you will probably get back is that modern biology is based on this theory and therefore it cannot be questioned. If you take the time to do any reading on Evolution you will know that there are tremendous arguments inside the scientific community about all aspects of the theory. None of this reaches the level of elementary and secondary education, and very likely little reaches the common college student. Therefore, there needs to be a warning that what is presented in these books is just a 'theory' and to a great extent does not agree with the current scientific accessment of the theory.

>By the way, all the bashing of fundamentalists is a big turnoff. Too many opinions without much evidence.
