So there's no fossil record? We haven't uncovered relics of the evolution of, say, the horse, from proto- through meso-hippus, etc. to today's zebra, and thence to the horse?

There is obviously variation within species, or if you will, microevolution; but the real question is about macroevolution, or the movement for species to species. That has not been observed. Lacking that evolution as an explanation of HOW is just not tenable.
