I saw that. Adobe 7 sounds like a great product. Still, it requires the full version to save and view the data. Approval is more cost effective to achieve that ability. For example, if you have Acrobat 6 on your workstation and you save the pdf file with the data everytime you view the pdf file you will see the data, however, if a user that only has Adobe Reader views the same pdf file they do not see the data even though the data is technically saved in the pdf because you stored it there with the full version of Acrobat. If you store the .xfdf in a memo field with the pdf file it should be a snap to always populate the pdf file later again with the identical data as the signed version because you use the same file prefix for the xfdf as the pdf. Just some thoughts... Glad it is working out for you!

>Yes, I need to save the "merged" pdf into Notes because by the time it gets into Notes it is supposed to be a "legal" document in that what you see in Notes is what was sent out for signing - at least that is what I am being asked to do. (the app changes over time and if we were to only merge them later, I would have to archive the apps and know which .xfdf to merge with which .pdf). It might be that I have to get the users to print the .pdf document a second time via the PDF writer (in this case Amyuni) in order to capture exactly what was printed.

>Since I have spent so much time getting the "data transformer" object to work correctly, I doubt I would back away from using the .xfdf file - just too close to being done. I have told them that we could probably start testing with a couple of users in a week or two so want to push ahead. If it means that they have to do a bit more work than they thought, they would probably be happier with this than waiting for me to figure out something new.

>>Hi Albert,
>>
>>You cannot save data with a pdf form with only the Reader. However, why are you saving data with the form anyway? That is an Adobe licensing issue. It requires the full version of Acrobat or Approval, etc. See the Adobe website and the Adobe forums for more information.
>>
>>I have tested (actually still am right now) the activex control as well as third party controls. The activex control is meant only for using with browsers. Regardless, NONE will allow you to save the form with the data because of the Adobe licensing issue. It still requires the full version. You can however, merge the data with the form whenever you want for previewing and printing.
>>
>>I have found that using the Gnostice activex control works better for our purposes. It saves me having to create the xfdf file at all. You might want to check it out. Are you trying to save images of the pdf with data on it in Notes? Can't you store the data separately and merge them everytime the user views the pdf instead?
