I found my error message was because I made an error when stepping thru the program I must have stepped over a step instead of stepping into. I do get a parent record saved everytime. I found a problem in my psuedo code and have revised this part of the program.

Aside from creating a new record when a new parent is created, I also need to edit a view in the child object. To do this I need to be able to make the child object temporarily a primary object to write these changes into the child view. Since this is only for editing a single textbox I don't want to use a modal form to accomplish this.

What are the steps to disable the first prim obj then set up the new prim obj and then once the record is written switch back to the original prim obj?
