wow thanks for responding so quickly, the printer is on the network and is a xerox N4525 on mode PCL5e, so I'm just printing to the xerox network tcp-ip port

I'm not sure how that works exactly but would updating the drivers on the print server machine make a difference or would it be something on my machine?

also thanks for the outlook link, I shall give it a go.
