Actually, in VB6 I preferred to use the Locked property. However, not all controls have this property... ie DateTimePicker control. Because of this I had to make use of the Enabled property for that control. But the form looks wierd that some controls are dimmed (because of the Enabled property) and the others look normal (because of the Locked property). Because of the inconsisted look... I decided to make use of the Enabled property, just so that the controls would have the same look... and since it is the only property common to all controls : )

But, you are definitly right about the user's needs to be able to copy the contents of the control.

Any ideas on why VB does not have the ability to change the fore/background colors of a disabled object when VFP has had it for a very long time... a to think that they are both MS applications?
