I don't want to willy-nilly allow any JavaScript script access to the clipboard; ideally, I'd like to enable this selectively for only a few sites. Otherwise I'm inclined to not allow any JavaScript access to the Clipboard at all.

Seems to be some delay in this happening for some reason. IAC, anytime I now use the function I get the prompt, and for the convenience it is worth it and should allay any security concerns you might have. Note also that the link you pointed to says this was 'fixed' in the preview release. I am still running the preview release. Works for me?

Jim & Sergey - thanks, guys, it works great.

Jim - as for "fixed", I think this means that in early versions FireFox *always* allowed Clipboard access from JavaScript (i.e. a security hole), and now it does not by default.
Regards. Al
